Effective date: September 8, 2026

This Fees & Payments Policy explains how much it costs to sell on ShopMyNest, how you get paid, and how sales tax and tax reporting are handled. It applies to every Seller on the ShopMyNest website at shopmynest.com and the ShopMyNest mobile app (together, the “Service”). It is part of, and should be read alongside, the Seller Agreement, the Terms of Service, the Return & Refund Policy, the Shipping Policy, and the Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict between this policy and the Seller Agreement on the mechanics of fees or payouts, the Seller Agreement controls.

1. Types of fees

1.1 Platform fee

ShopMyNest charges a flat 10% platform fee on the product portion of every order. The platform fee does not apply to shipping charges or to sales tax. It is the same 10% whether an item sells for five dollars or five hundred.

1.2 Payment-processing fee

ShopMyNest uses Stripe to process Buyer card payments. Stripe’s card-processing cost is passed through on every order. As of the effective date of this policy, that pass-through is included in the shipping line at checkout so the Buyer sees a single “shipping” charge that combines the carrier rate and the processing cost. Current fee levels are shown in your Seller dashboard before you list or accept an order.

1.3 No listing, set-up, or subscription fees

At launch, ShopMyNest does not charge:

  • A listing fee to publish or renew an item.
  • A set-up fee to open a Seller account.
  • A monthly or annual subscription fee.

You pay ShopMyNest only when you make a sale.

1.4 Shipping fees

Shipping rates come from Shippo as live carrier quotes based on your ship-from address, the Buyer’s ship-to address, and the package you selected. The rate the Buyer paid at checkout is the rate you receive when you buy the label; ShopMyNest does not mark up shipping. See the Shipping Policy for how live rates, label purchase, and label refunds work.

1.5 Regulatory operating fees

ShopMyNest does not charge a regulatory operating fee at launch. If ShopMyNest ever expands outside the United States and is required to add a regulatory operating fee (for example, to fund EU or UK marketplace-operator obligations), we will disclose it here and notify Sellers under §9 before it takes effect.

2. Worked examples

The examples below use round numbers for readability. Your actual fees will match the amounts shown in your Seller dashboard for each order.

2.1 Example — a $50 item, no sales tax collected by ShopMyNest

A Buyer purchases a handmade item priced at $50.00 and pays $8.00 shipping (Shippo live rate plus the Stripe pass-through, shown as the shipping line at checkout). ShopMyNest does not act as a marketplace facilitator for this destination state, so no sales tax is added.

  • Buyer pays: $50.00 (item) + $8.00 (shipping line) = $58.00
  • Platform fee: 10% of $50.00 (product portion only) = $5.00
  • Seller product proceeds: $50.00 − $5.00 = $45.00 credited to your ShopMyNest balance
  • Shipping label: the label cost is debited from your ShopMyNest balance when you purchase the label from the order detail screen; you keep whatever difference remains between the shipping line the Buyer paid and the label you actually bought (typically zero, because the shipping line is set to cover the live rate plus the processing pass-through).

2.2 Example — a $50 item where ShopMyNest is the marketplace facilitator

Same $50.00 item and $8.00 shipping line, but the destination is a state where ShopMyNest is required to act as a marketplace facilitator (see §6). ShopMyNest calculates the destination-state sales tax at $3.50, collects it from the Buyer at checkout, and remits it to the state.

  • Buyer pays: $50.00 (item) + $8.00 (shipping line) + $3.50 (sales tax) = $61.50
  • Platform fee: 10% of $50.00 = $5.00 (not applied to shipping or tax)
  • Seller product proceeds: $50.00 − $5.00 = $45.00 credited to your ShopMyNest balance
  • Sales tax: $3.50 is retained by ShopMyNest and remitted to the destination state. It does not appear in your Seller balance and it is not part of your 1099-K gross.
  • Shipping label: debited from your balance when purchased, as above.

3. How you pay ShopMyNest

You never receive an invoice for platform fees. The 10% platform fee is deducted from each order at settlement, so the amount credited to your ShopMyNest balance is already net of the fee. Payment-processing costs pass through inside the shipping line the Buyer paid, so they do not reduce your product proceeds. This keeps the math simple: what you see in the Seller dashboard for an order is what will move to your available balance.

4. Payouts

4.1 How payouts work

Seller payouts are processed by ShopMyNest as ACH transfers from ShopMyNest’s business checking account to the US bank account you save in the app. Sellers do not sign up for or maintain any account with our third-party payment processor.

4.2 Availability

Funds from a paid order become available for payout two (2) business days after the order is marked paid (T+2), matching our card processor’s payout cycle.

4.3 Minimum payout

You may request a payout once your available balance reaches the $25 minimum. Balances below $25 stay in your account and roll into your next payout.

4.4 How to request a payout

Request a payout of your available balance from the Payouts screen in the Seller dashboard. Payouts typically settle in your bank account within 1–3 business days after the request, depending on your bank.

4.5 Bank details, failed and returned payouts

You are responsible for the accuracy of the routing and account numbers you save. If a payout is returned because bank details are wrong or the account is closed:

  • ShopMyNest will re-credit the amount to your ShopMyNest balance so no funds are lost.
  • A returned-payment fee passed through by our processor may be deducted from your balance.
  • Update your bank details in the Payouts screen and request the payout again.

If ShopMyNest cannot reach you to correct invalid bank details, funds will remain in your ShopMyNest balance until you update the account.

5. Reserved earnings and refund offset

ShopMyNest may hold funds in reserve, or offset future earnings, when it is reasonably necessary to protect against refund, chargeback, or dispute risk. This is described in Seller Agreement §5.5. In practice, reserves or offsets may apply in the following situations:

  • Chargebacks. If a Buyer files a chargeback with their card issuer, the funds for that order are locked pending the outcome. If the chargeback is granted to the Buyer, the refund plus any chargeback fee passed through by Stripe is deducted from your balance.
  • Ongoing disputes. While a Buyer dispute or a ShopMyNest mediation is open on an order, the related funds may be held.
  • New-Seller trust window. During the initial trust window for a new Seller account, ShopMyNest may hold a portion of earnings until the account has a track record of shipped orders and satisfied Buyers.
  • Refund exceeds available balance. If a required refund is larger than your current available balance, future earnings will be offset until the refund is fully covered.

Reserves are released as the underlying risk resolves.

6. Sales tax and marketplace facilitator

6.1 Where ShopMyNest calculates, collects, and remits

For orders shipped to destination states where ShopMyNest is required to act as a marketplace facilitator, ShopMyNest calculates the sales tax at checkout, collects it from the Buyer, and remits it to the state. You do not need to file for those orders in those states.

6.2 Where the Seller is responsible

For all other orders — states where ShopMyNest is not required to act as a marketplace facilitator — you are responsible for determining, collecting, and remitting sales, use, or other applicable taxes on your sales. ShopMyNest may provide reports to help you file, but it is your responsibility to file correctly.

6.3 The state list changes

Marketplace-facilitator obligations change as state laws change. The current list of states where ShopMyNest acts as the marketplace facilitator is maintained in a ShopMyNest Help Centre article; check the Help Centre for the latest list before you rely on it for tax planning.

7. 1099-K reporting

ShopMyNest will issue an IRS Form 1099-K to Sellers who meet the applicable federal threshold in a calendar year. Some state thresholds are lower than the federal threshold; where a state requires 1099-K issuance below the federal amount, ShopMyNest will issue in accordance with that state’s rules.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the taxpayer information you submit — your Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number, your legal name, and your business name (if any). Update this information in the tax section of your Seller dashboard before the end of the calendar year in which you want the change reflected. Incorrect taxpayer information can delay or block your payouts and may cause backup-withholding to apply.

8. Currency

All transactions on ShopMyNest are in US dollars. ShopMyNest does not offer currency conversion at launch.

9. Fee changes

For material changes to this Fees & Payments Policy — including changes to the platform fee, introduction of a listing, subscription, or regulatory operating fee, or changes to payout mechanics or the minimum payout — ShopMyNest will notify Sellers in-app and by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Non-material changes (typo fixes, clarifications, new examples) take effect on publication.

10. Off-platform sales

You may not use ShopMyNest to build a Buyer relationship and then complete the transaction off-platform to avoid the platform fee. The full rules on off-platform activity, what is and isn’t allowed, and the consequences of fee evasion are set out in Seller Agreement §7.
